NOC Field Trip Schedule for 2012

The 2012 field trip meeting will be held at the home of Joe & Marcia Goetz in January, 2012. The three clubs - Whittier, Pasadena and North Orange County, and joined by a representative of the Seachers Club, met to produce the official field trip schedule for the coming year.

Jan 18-22 .................... Quartzsite

Feb 18-20 .................... Stoddard Wells: Local sites for verde antique, tri-color marble, black jade, actinolite, “bugeye” rhyolite, soapstone (for carving). Other locations may also be explored.

Mar 12-14 .................... Stoddard Wells Tailgate: Like Quartzsite, only smaller.

Mar 24-25 .................... Lavic Siding/Southern Cadys: Many varieties of jasper and agate.

Apr 21-22 .................... Castle Butte: Bloodstone, palm root, agate & jasper of several types

Apr 28 .................... Tourmaline mine trip (fee location)

May 26-28 .................... Lone Pine/Cerro Gordo: The famous Cerro Gordo mine tailing are open only once a year and are good for many minerals including Smithsonite. Numerous field trip possibilities from Lone Pine including ammonites, corundum, petrified wood

Jun 16 .................... Wrightwood (day trip): Actinolite and possibly rhodonite

July 28 .................... Palos Verdes (day trip): Minerals & fossils

Aug 11 .................... Museum (day trip)

Aug 31 - Sept 2 .................... Snyder’s Ranch: Large tailgate & show with cool field trips.

Oct 6 .................... Trona - Searles Lake Club show & field trips: Pink halite crystals & borax minerals.

Nov 3-4 .................... Whittier Club Claim (Barstow): honey onyx, agate, jasper, palm root, etc.

Nov 22-2 .................... 5 Stonewall Pass: Famous old time petrified wood location. Will also visit collecting areas near Goldfield, NV and Beatty, NV.

Dec 8 .................... Pinto Mountains copper minerals

Informed Consent/Assumption of Risk/Waiver of Liability form:
To be signed before beginning the field trip or activity.
Suggestions for use of form.

Insurance: The Federation's insurance policy automatically provides liability insurance coverage for Federation member clubs at announced, sponsored club field trips. You may be required to provide a Certificate of Insurance or Additional Insured Endorsement to property owners; if so, please go to the Federation's web site (www.cfmsinc.org) under Insurance Forms for a copy of the request form.

You will provide: Contact person (Name, address, phone No., cell phone No., and e-mail address). Upon arriving at the campsite, sign a Consent and Assumption of Risk Waiver of Liability form.
